In a September filled with sunshine and sea breezes (let’s just say, the weather app was smiling on us!), the team at SURTEC swapped their office gear for gloves and bags, heading to the breathtaking Heping Island Geopark for a day of beach cleanup. As a local manufacturer, it’s in our DNA to support the community and take care of the land we’re proud to call home.
Heping Island Geopark, located on Heping Island in Keelung —Taiwan's closest offshore island, just 75 meters from the main island—has endured and evolved through a rich history spanning the Spanish and Dutch periods, the Zheng era, Qing rule, Japanese occupation, and post-World War II Taiwan.
During the event, our team worked hand-in-hand to remove litter and help protect the local marine life. This effort reminded us of our commitment to protecting the environment, ensuring these breathtaking landscapes remain pristine for generations to come.
Hosting the cleanup at Heping Island Geopark wasn’t just a convenient choice—it was a purposeful one. By staying local, we reduced our carbon footprint while contributing to the preservation of Taiwan’s natural and cultural heritage. With rock formations dating back 23 million years and recognized as Asia's first ISO 20121-certified sustainable tourist destination, it also stands as a living testament to Taiwan’s resilience and beauty.
At SURTEC, we’re not just focused on innovation and business growth; we're dedicated to fostering a greener future, one small step at a time. Stay tuned for more initiatives as we continue to support sustainability and environmental protection!
A Hidden Gem with Global Recognition
Heping Island Geopark isn't just another beach cleanup spot—it's a national treasure! In October 2020, it was awarded the ISO 20121 certification for sustainable event management by the British Standards Institution (BSI), making it the first national tourism site in Asia to receive this accolade. Among its many wonders is Alabao Bay, a secret paradise nestled within the park, named one of the "21 Most Beautiful Sunrise Viewing Spots in the World" by SinovisionNet.
